Yuck! alternate title: Time to wash the strap

Like most good tri-geeks, I have a heart rate monitor. And, I wear it as often as possible. Unlike most good tri-geeks, I have no clue about propper heart rate training. I just like knowing what my heart rate is at any given time. That will change in the new year, when I resolve to learn more about heart rate training and attempt to do it properly.

But that's neither here nor there.

Before last night's run, I attached my monitor. My naked back was ready for the instant chill. My tongue, was not ready for the yuck.

I have a bad habit of licking the electrodes before attaching it. The manual clearly states to moisten the back of the strap for maximum effectiveness. I'm lazy, and usually just lick it.

The manual also clearly states, to rinse off the strap after each use.... ok, I don't do that part. Last night, the accumulated salt crust from the previous workout was well, very yucky!

I did rinse it off very well after last night's run. (An medium paced 8K @ 143 BPM avg)
