After the half-marathon, that is it for speed.

I vow, to never desire to beat another PR or go fast ever again.

Today's 6x800s @ 3:31 was accomplished (3:19, 3:23, 3:32, 3:20, 3:33, 3:24), but I now look and feel like death.

I am not meant to run any faster than 6:00 / km.

For fun last week, I timed myself full-out on the track for 400meters: 1:25. I was about ready to bust a lung. I remember in high-school, the storied 4x400m track teams were aiming for sub-fifty 400s ... woah.

Whaaaa

500 meter TT in the pool today. 8:47. (1:45/100). Thought I would have been better. 13 seconds better than Jan 24 - at least I'm getting faster taking less time.

A Graph

I'm sort of on track with the training plan. Today, was "speed" day again. 4x1600 at pace (4:38). I broke each 1600 down to 4x400s; and added 2 minute recovery after each 1600. I could hold the pace for the whole 1600m, but it seemed very fast. It seems far-fetched I can hold that pace for a whole 21.1 k. Argh. 18 days to go!

Defeat is not an option

Defeat is not an option - cheezy as that line is, I was screaming it in my head on my last 800m "speed" interval today. Tuesday is speed day and 5x800 @ 3:31 was on the menu.

#1 @ 3:25, #2 @ 3:11, #3 @ 3:19, #4 @ 3:28, #5 @ 3:37 (ahh close enough - into the wind).

It's been a good rebound week. I missed a long run last Sunday, and completely blew off Monday and Tuesday's run because I was sick, but I rebounded nicely. Wednesday saw a good swim, and easy 5K; Thursday was a good Tempo; Saturday was 4K swim and a little speed after LTR and Sunday saw a good 22k run in two hours (thanks to the CMC ladies).

On the diet side of things... not so good. I haven't weighed myself in 2 weeks out of fear. Snacking is back up to all-time high levels. Emotions Catering has been busy making spring delicacies, and that means taste testing, hold backs, left-overs, and gallons of unused icing and fondant. Easter is going to be tough!
