08:35 for 500 meters today in the pool. I couldn't remember what my SB or PB were, I thought I was close. Turns out, 10 seconds away still from the PB. Rats. But, if anything. I'm pretty consistent. I did stop to empty my goggles once, so maybe add a second for that... and I did skip a few flip turns out of courtesy to someone else getting in...
I haven't bitched about the pool in a while. And really, I shouldn't, because I did have half the lane to myself... but:
What is it with old ladies and their body spray!?!?!? The entire shallow end was just awful with a thin skim of old-lady scum.

I don't like swimming in old lady soup!

The Geek is Back

Small Loop - Crack to Crack (2.53 km)

* Where "Crack" is the crack in the road at the culvert crossing just near the turn-in to the parking lot.

SB in the Pool
Last week, I was pretty sure I did my first 400m warm up in 6:40. That would have given me a pace of 1:40/100 meters. Not bad. Last night, I was determined to do a 500m time trial right off the bat to see where I was.
500m ... 08:33 (1:42/100). According to this Fabulous Online Swim Split Time Converter Calculator.
Pretty close to my PB (8:25 set May 10, 2005 during my over-training phase, in a 25 yard pool). And way faster than earlier in the year where I was hovering around 9 minutes.
Crap - I'm so close to the PB, I have no choice now, but to beat it.

Random Rant: The Swimming Pool Chin Up
...just wondering what goes through someone's mind, when they do chin-ups in the water using the backstroke handles on the diving block. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's like no resistance.
