New Template

Just updated the blog template. I think it looks lame. Oh well.

Had a great swim at lunch time. Started off with a 500m time trial @ 08:27; which would be 2 seconds over my 500m PB at a pace of 1:41 WHICH seems pretty suspect. Perhaps I missed 2 lengths, leaving me 50 meters short, for a "modified" pace of 1:53. <pirate>Argh!</pirate> I did swim in my new Jammers. They were pretty silky smooth in the water - so who knows.

iRan

First run back after 62 day hiatus! Foot felt fine. Laura rode beside me on her bike. I managed to run the whole thing without stopping; my 6:00 pace felt like 5:00 effort though!

iSwam

Don't hassle the Hoff
I was back in the water at lunch time.

100 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 100 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Free, 300 Free, 100 Breast.

I now need a new suit. My previous one, more a pair of tri-shorts have officially packed it in, as in all the elasticity has let go. I threw them out at the end of the session. The crotch was literally hanging down to my knees.

I may revive my trusty speedo in the mean time.

...on second thought, maybe not.

iSwim

Had my first post-op public swimming experience on Sunday. An hour at Nav Canada with the kiddies. I did race Laura on the flutterboard, and she kicked my a$$. Me thinks I may be able to resume swim training. Hell -- I may even go today!

200 Watts

203 Watts to be exact, over 60 minutes (which is pretty good, because it includes about 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down at 120). So, I'm kind of back to where I was this time last year (almost) I cheated a bit, I was grinding at about 80 RPM.

Next goal 200W @ 95+ RPM, and then 225 W and then 250W and then 275 and then 300 and then le Tour.

More Power

I'm starting to ease back into the bike habit. 5 'rides' in 8 days. Last night, I upped the power a bit, and averaged 200 Watts for the first 30 mins. Not too shabby for a bad foot. If I could hold that for an hour, I'll be where I was this time last year.

Back on the Bike

After a little encouragement from my number 1 training partner, I squashed my feet into my cycling shoes and did something I have not done for 42 days... Exercised. (I use that term loosely ~ 1 hr @ 132W for 22.5 km; probably avg heart rate was 85).

My foot was fine. And is fine this morning. My right hip feels a little off - I was probably cycling weird to protect my foot.

Swimming is still a ways off, as my wound is not properly healed, and running -- well, I'm sure it will be before the end of the year.
