Swimming in a week?

I had a visit with the surgeon on Tuesday, where he removed a large chunk of useless flesh. It's all good though, my toe had mostly grown back underneath. It doesn't look nearly as gruesome as before, my toe now kinda looks like a hot dog wiener that was left in the microwave too long.

The good thing is that I'm 100% healthy and virtually pain free. I can put weight on the foot no problem. I've been walking for a couple of days now too. Because, I have been babying the foot so long, it's hard for me to walk properly. I'm still limping -- I'll have to learn how to walk normally again.

No running yet, but I might be able to hit the pool in a week, as long as my toe heals up enough. Good times!

Thanks for the well-wishes.

Maybe next year...

I am sitting comfortably at home with my leg up, an I.V. in each arm, and only a mild throb in my foot. While I was in hospital, I wrote many great blog posts in my mind to describe what has happened to me and what I went through. Far too self-righteous. Suffice to say, that I am a) lucky and b) doing fine. It will be a while before I swim, bike or run again. The marathon is definitely cancelled. But, in the meantime, it's comforting to know that I still have both feet and all ten toes. On top of that - a great family who have gone above and beyond to help me through this.
