Les Splits de MS - Cornwall; April 26, 2008 Half Marathon

A tough race today.

I didn't really have a hell-bent finish time in mind. Let 'er rip and see what happens.

Wind was really a challenge on the way back. Ran well for the first 9K until the wheels fell off.

01. 4:54
02. 4:50
03. 4:52
04. 4:57
05. 4:48
06. 4:48
07. 4:42
08. 4:43
09. 4:41
10. 4:52 (J St.M dropped me like a boat anchor after the 9K flag)
11. 5:38 (Hello wind)
12. 5:13 (Right calf is done for the day)
13. 5:00 (Think happy thoughts)
14. 5:04 (Starting to get passed big time)
15. 5:31
16. 5:43 (10 K turnaround folks give a slight boost)
17. 5:28 (Do calculation in head and feel a sub 1:50:00 is still doable)
18. 5:32
19. 5:30
20. 5:45 (Definitely sub 1:50:00, let up mentally, get passed a few more times)
21. 5:50 (Trying not to get hurt)
21.1: see the clock with lots of time on it, enjoy the last .1 km.

Final time: 1:48:44. Happy with it overall. 5:10 /km overall pace. 22/43 overall. 19/27 Men. 9/11 M30-39 (ouch).

Congrats to Guylaine on a fine finish, very close to her target, and would have been under her target if not for the wind.

Looking and feeling strong here (above) about 0.8 km into the race.

Not looking so good and not feeling so good here about 20 km into the race. Interesting to note that my grimace of pain looks like a smile.
