Steve Hall, a really nice guy

I have just learned that Steve Hall was killed on Friday. I had the pleasure of meeting Steve and his wife Joanne this summer during our Thursday evening duathlon series. He was a really nice guy.

Someone at work asked me if I knew him well. To be honest, I didn't. But you know how 99% of the new people you meet in your life are perhaps just "some guy" or "some girl", Steve, was definately in the 1% where you felt a real warm connection. The type of person who you are better off for having known.

His friend, Ab Ettinger, posted this to Trirudy this morning:

It is with great sadness and regret that I send this note.
The Trirudy community has lost another member in a tragic event.
Steve Hall (49) of Orleans was killed instantly in the horrific accident
that occured on Friday afternoon on highway 417 east bound.

Steve was a long time member of the Orleans Stryders Running Club,
a marathoner, an avid skier and cyclist who enjoyed reading Trirudy
everyday and engaging all of us in the debates. Some of you may remember
him from the Thursday night duathlons on the parkway (the "George Clooney"
lookalike), from running with him in training or at a race, skiing in
the Gatineaus or simply just sharing a few words with him from
time to time.

Cherished friend, training partner, father and soul mate, Steve
leaves behind Joanne (his soul mate), a son Jonathan (23), a daughter
Caroline (20) and many, many friends whose lives are so much the richer
for having known him. Dedicated athlete, loving father and
husband and devoted ! friend, his life philosophy has always been to
play hard, do your best and always take care of each other.

He will be sorely missed. Arrangements - visitation at the Heritage Funeral
Home, St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans, on Tuseday, February 21st from 2-4
and 7-9 and service at Good Shepherd Church, 3092 Innes Road on
Wednesday, February 22nd at 10 AM.
